Hi friends,
Thank you all so much for your well wishes last week! I’ve had a few rough days, but overall I’m starting to feel a lot better. I feel like there is a road to recovery ahead of me, even though I know it will be at least another month before I get full mobility of my dominant wrist again.
Thank you again to everyone who sent advice, shared stories about their own injuries and recovery process, offered suggestions on helpful tools, or simply sent kind words. It really means a lot!
And also huge thanks to everyone who pitched me for my Yahoo Q&A project! I have received more than a hundred pitches for that initiative. While I wish I could reply to everyone, that’s difficult in the best of times and absolutely impossible when you’re down to just one hand. Please hold off on any follow-ups and know that I’ll get back to you if I’m able to move forward.
The reason I’m popping back into your inbox today is because my editors at The Compass magazine have just assigned me one more piece for the upcoming issue, and I need your help.
I am also sharing a special offer with you too.
I’ve never discounted this newsletter before
As I recover from wrist surgery and prepare to expand paid subscriber benefits, I’m offering a limited-time Recovery Rate on annual subscriptions to this newsletter.
I’ve never discounted this newsletter before, and I don’t plan to do it again.
One unexpected benefit of being forced to slow down is that I’ve had more time to think deeply about what’s working in PR, what’s changing in journalism, and where communicators can gain an edge. In the coming months, I’ll be sharing more of those insights with paid subscribers through exclusive content, practical advice, and behind-the-scenes analysis of the media industry.
Paid subscribers get more than just the newsletter—you also get:
• 25% off The Pitch Fix
• 15% off Flash Consulting sessions
• Deep discounts on workshops and live events
• Access to subscriber-only content and resources (including my entire archive of paywalled posts)
If you’ve been thinking about upgrading, now’s a great time. You’ll lock in this discounted rate for as long as you remain subscribed and gain access to all current and future paid subscriber benefits.
Offer ends Friday, June 19.
Pitch me for this story
The Compass magazine: A Guide to the Cruise Lines’ Private Islands
For an article in an upcoming print edition of the Compass magazine (truly one of the most high-quality travel magazines out there right now, just take a look at the last issue to see for yourself), I’m exploring how cruise lines continue to invest heavily in private islands and exclusive beach destinations, transforming them from simple port stops into major selling points. From family-friendly attractions and luxury beach clubs to water parks and cultural experiences, these destinations can significantly influence a client’s cruise decision.
This article will examine some of the most notable private islands and explain how advisors can help clients experience them. Here’s what I’m looking for:
A travel advisor who can offer insight into these private islands and how to use them to sell cruises to clients
A cruise line rep who can talk about their company’s private islands and why they appeal to passengers
Images and descriptions of private islands from cruise lines (Please send images in a Dropbox or Google Drive folder, no attachments please.)
If you can help, please email me ASAP. jonimsweet@gmail.com
