Hi friends,
I’m baaaaaaack. After moving what feels like hundreds of heavy boxes (seriously, how do I have so much stuff?!) and spending a few nights getting to know my new home, I’m finally digging myself out of my inbox and picking up work. It feels good, but admittedly, it’s a little daunting facing the mountain of projects (both as a professional and now a homeowner) in front of me.
Couple of quick housekeeping items, then I’ll share some fresh calls for sources that (hopefully) match your client roster or personal expertise.
#1: The Pitch Fix is back!
After a brief hiatus while I wrapped up my move, The Pitch Fix (my custom PR pitch workshopping service!) is back, complete with the 24-hour turnaround time that makes this offer so useful. A lot of you already took advantage of this new offering when I launched it last month, so if you haven’t yet given it a try, now’s a great time to get the eyes of a journalist who has read more than 150,000 PR pitches on yours. Plus, all Substack subscribers (even if you have a free subscription) get 50% off the service. Use code SUBSTACKFAN50 at checkout for The Pitch Fix.
#2: I paywalled my last newsletter, but you can read it for free—here’s how.
Late last month, I covered 4 major media industry shake-ups that are crushing freelance writers (and by extension, PR strategies) for my paid subscribers. Tons of readers upgraded their subscription so they could read that specific newsletter (it was a *juicy* one!)—thank you to those who supported my work!
But I get it—times are tough and not everyone has the budget to pay for content right now. If you want to read it but can’t pay to upgrade your subscription, there is a backdoor to accessing the content for free: start sharing my newsletter! If you refer it to at least 3 others, you can get 1 month of complimentary access to the paid version of this newsletter, including popular issues from the archives, like the one thing every publicist should put on their website and whether relationships with journalists really matter.
Now, onto everyone’s favorite portion of this newsletter: Current assignment announcements!
